Steven Tyler Feathers

Dude looks like a bird!  Steven Tyler has had a huge impact on America since he's become a judge on American Idol.  The feathers that Tyler wears in his hair have become a huge trend among men and women (but mostly women).  Fly fishing shops have been running out of their supply of feathers due to the high demand.  More and more salons have been offering their feather extension services to the public.  All of this is simply because of Steven Tyler.

Many of you may already know all of the story behind the recent feather craze, but what you may not know is where you can find feather extensions or accessories.  These feather extensions have definitely been going up in price but you have a few different options to explore.  Many salons now are offering services, so you can try to find who has the best deal around.  If you prefer to order them and do it yourself, a few great online sources include http://featherextensionsforhair.com/ and http://www.conditionculture.com/ They have been getting more expensive, but the good news is that these feathers are reusable.  Not only that but if you buy a pack that includes the tools to put the feathers in, you can look at local craft stores or fly fishing stores for more unique feathers that you can try.  Remember that you cannot put heat on fake feathers that you would most likely find at the craft store (this means no straightening or curling the feather).  If you find a fake feather that you fall in love with though, you can just avoid putting heat in that area.

If you don't think feather extensions are your thing, you can try other feather accessories that are very in right now.  Try some flashy feather earrings or a feather necklace.  These feather statement jewelry pieces are popping up in many different stores, so go fishing for some feathers!

Steven Tyler has even been inspiring other famous faces with his feathers...

Taylor Swift Bad Hair Day Trick

So here is the Taylor Swift Tutorial, just as a promised, for those days when your hair is a wreck!  I hope you all enjoy it!!!

Putting a Stop to Bad Hair Days!!!!

I have made it my recent mission to upload as many tutorials as I can to end bad hair days.  Many people have been asking me what to do on bad hair days or on those days when you don't wash your hair.

If your hair is a little bit greasy, I would definitely recommend using a dry shampoo.  Many people don't really understand the need for it, but believe me, it works wonders!  Just by spraying a little dry shampoo to your roots, your hair instantly feels cleaner.  The only bad thing about dry shampoo is that is sometimes leaves your hair looking a little dull.  Thankfully, there is also a solution to this problem!  The answer is dry conditioner.  Dry conditioner adds shine to the hair after applying dry shampoo.  Dry shampoo and conditioner are definitely a fast fix to a bad hair day.

Another solution to the bad hair day, which many people again don't try, is hats!  Many people believe that they do not have a good "hat head" but the truth is that you probably just aren't used to wearing hats.  Try just for one bad hair day to wear a cute hat like a fedora or a beret.  Especially if you don't wear hats often, this will change your look up and people will take notice.  Many celebrities including Taylor Swift, Vanessa Hudgens, Kate Hudson, Kourtney Kardashian, and many others have been seen wearing statement hats.  If they can pull it off, why can't you?  Just give it a try.  Last week Britain was swarming with unique hats during and after the royal wedding.  In the United States, many people put on their statement hats for the Kentucky Derby.  If there was a time to start trying out hats, its now.
So stay tuned for more youtube tutorials for putting an end to bad hair days!  I'm uploading a Taylor Swift inspired one as we speak...

Basic Braiding

I love experimenting with braids, especially when I am trying to limit my use of heat to prevent my hair from damage.  There are so many different looks that can be achieved through braids.  In order to do these many looks, one must first learn how to do the various kinds of braids.  This post will explain a little bit about each braid!

Basic Braid

To do a basic braid simply break your hair into three sections.  Next, take an outside section and move it to the middle.  Then take the opposite section and move it to the middle.  Continue this process until you have reached the bottom of your braid.

French Braid

The french braid is like a basic braid, except you will want to collect more hair from the outside and add it to an outside section before moving it over the middle section to the middle.  Continue this method until you reach the bottom of your braid.  Once you master the french braid, you can do french braid side ponytails by taking smaller pieces from one side than the other.  You can even do french braid pigtails!

Dutch Braid

If you can french braid you will have an easier grasp on the dutch braid.  The dutch braid is essentially the same, except you must move the outside sections underneath the middle section to the middle instead of over the middle section.  Continue the dutch braid until you reach the bottom.  You can also create a side dutch braid ponytail or pigtail dutch braids just like you would with a french braid.

Fishtail Braid

For the fishtail braid you only need two sections.  Take a small piece from the outside of the right section and cross it over to the left section.  Then take a small outer piece from the left section and cross it over to the right section.  Continue taking small outer pieces and adding them to the opposite sections.  Once you develop your skills for the fishtail braid you can even do it in the same manner that you would a french braid by starting at the top and gathering hair as you get near the bottom.

Rope Braid

There are only two sections involved in a rope braid as well as the fishtail braid.  For the rope braid break your hair into two sections and twist them individually in one direction.  Next, wrap them around each other in the opposite direction that you are twisting the individual pieces in.  This is a fun and unique braid that is cute as a regular ponytail, a side ponytail, or even pigtails.

Even More Braids!

I will be uploading a hair tutorial shortly on these basic braiding skills to my Youtube Channel.
Now that you have learned these basic braiding skills, think of all of the possible styles you can create using braids!  The possibilities are endless...

Starting From Scratch

Hey everyone!  Thank you for visiting my new blog.  This first post is all about starting from scratch.  I recently deleted all of the videos from my old youtube channel.  Now its time to start from scratch.  With the love and support from my old subscribers I know I will be able to rebuild my name on youtube...well a slightly different name.  So don't look for me under the channel "thealexandraclaire" because it is now "AlexandraClaireHair."  I think the new name is actually more fitting than the last one.  Anyways, don't worry because I am currently uploading videos and am dedicated to making the hair tutorials of my new channel AlexandraClaireHair amazing!  So please visit and subscribe to AlexandraClaireHair.  I'd really appreciate it!  Thanks everyone and have a spectacular day!
